We've all been there. We wake up one morning just to regret the decisions we made the day before. Whether it was a few harsh words or maybe too many extra adult beverages, we all make choices that we have to live with. The older you get, the more conscious you are of your decision making skills. Or maybe it isn't age at all, but rather your past experiences. Honing in on any type of skill takes practice. Can you think of a time when you made a choice and had to live with the consequences? Whether the outcome is good or bad, learning where to focus our energy is not only practical but necessary.
I have made a few mistakes in my life and when I was given the opportunity to learn from them, I stayed away from regret and instead learned to cope by telling myself "This is an excellent opportunity to grow." Instead of seeing the negative side and wallowing in self pity, I chose to teach my head (and my heart) to use each situation as a teaching moment. Trusting my faith in God, I pray frequently when faced with situations where my choices may affect my mindset. Did I turn a blind eye to possible negative outcomes? No, absolutely not. I fully accepted what each decision COULD result in. I did, however, turn the possible negative outcomes into something positive. Prayer is an excellent way to bring God's light into your life. For example, there was a time when I would sacrifice my sense of self for others. I would give in and give up just about everything that I had once held in such high regard. My love for myself faded and I was put in a situation where I doubted just about everything I did. The decision I made to never let myself go there again was a simple thought, but the action steps were going to be a whole heck of a lot more difficult to put into place. My simple decision came with the possibility that I was going to lose friends. Nobody ever likes the thought of losing friends. Especially when you are in the time of your life that going out and socializing is a key aspect of human growth and development. However, I realized that not every "friend" has your best interest at heart. Some people that claim to be your friends, may in fact never be there when you desperately need them. So, my decision to change myself, led to severing relationships which I deemed toxic or non productive. My mistake of letting myself "go" turned into the most life changing chapter of my story. With the help of prayer and the power from God, I continue my mission to help others change their outlook on life.
Can you see how I took the negative "I'm going to lose my friends" and swapped it for the idea that "I am trimming the dead ends away for more GROWTH." Learning to love myself and learning to rely on the strength from God, helped me get past such a difficult time in my personal story of growth. You know I am a firm believer in the power of mindset right?
Basically what I want to say is that no matter what decision you are faced with, learning to use the power of a positive mindset is very important. Knowing what your possible results will be and understanding that you do no want tomorrow to be full of "I'm Sorry's". Push away anything that could be detrimental to you and YOUR growth. Focus on positive thoughts and know that your life is full of blessings just waiting to be unwrapped. Walk with God and He will show you the way. Without Him, you will never find true happiness.
